Teaching Tip Tuesday - Checkbook Rewards

Want a great way to reward your students and teach the importance of keeping a balanced budget? Then look no further.
Students in Mrs. Zwahr's 5th grade math class get "paid" each day with an attendance paycheck, which they then enter into their provided checkbook sheet. They must "pay" checks for missing HW in math class.
The fees and payments are applied to the entire class so this is a way to reward the class as well as teach.
Mrs. Zwahr's classes must have a certain amount left in their checkbooks at the end of the six weeks in order for that class to be rewarded.
"Students don't like paying checks and deducting from their balance," Mrs. Zwahr confirmed.
That's a life lesson we can't learn soon enough.
