Hopefully, by now, you are done or nearly finished with your holiday shopping. Relaxing and spending time with families and friends should be what the next few weeks are about.
It's the "after" that can be concerning. The average American plans to spend over $1000 this holiday season. With that increased amount of shopping, it's easy to overlook a few extra items that appear on your credit card statements, transactions that you may not have made. Over 43% of shopping identity thefts occur during the holiday shopping season.
So here are a few things to make sure your Holiday's stay Happy:
- Check your statements for fraudulent charges at least once a week
- set up account alerts to get texts or emails on charges
- verify through the texts or emails to recognize if you made those purchases or not
