Screencast-O-Matic + Smart Notebook = Awesome "Flipped" Classroom Videos
The screencasting tool, Screencast-O-Matic, is amazing at creating excellent tutorial videos. Great tool for all educators. Some of the ways I've seen educators use it:
- Flipped faculty meeting. Admin use Screencast-O-Matic (SOM) to cover meeting agendas, present Google presentations, create tutorial videos on using a tool or strategy, display classroom procedure and hallway procedure policies, etc...
- Instructional Tech Specialist have used SOM to create tutorial videos over tech tools, instructional techniques, etc....
- Classroom Teachers have used SOM to create flipped classrooms by providing the students a video over the content they will learn in class or a video detailing content they have previously just learned. Great for review of topics!
Below is a video showing you how you can use SOM combined with Smart Notebook to create great lessons for your students! Let them watch the videos in stations, before/after school, before a classroom lesson, etc. Check it out!
The combination of Screencast-O-Matic and Smart Notebook is also great when wanting to create custom GIF's. You could create loop videos showing how to solve math problems, write a sentence, vocabulary words, etc. When you are done creating your video, you have the option of saving the video as a MP4 or a GIF file. Save your videos as GIF's for short, easy-to-follow, looping videos:
