Tech Star: Lakeisha Moore (AES)

Lakeisha Moore helps one of her 3rd graders with Pocket Zoo, an iPad app that helped them prepare for their field trip to the Houston Zoo. Students were amazed as they learned about zoo animals through pictures, videos, and live web cams. And the iPads made it extra fun!

This is Lakeisha Moore's first year to teach, but you would never know it if you walked in to her classroom. She is cool and calm and doing a great job teaching 3rd grade Math, Science, and Social Studies due to excellent classroom management skills. She also integrates technology like an old pro! Lakeisha mastered the SMART Board last summer at beginning training; she created an impressive lesson teaching money concepts from scratch - quite a feat considering she learned SMART Notebook software in a day AND she included the curriculum she wanted to teach! She is a member of Alton's iPad implementation team where she has helped create policy, select apps and train other 3rd grade teachers to use iPads in the classroom. Congratulations, Lakeisha - you are a Tech Star as well as a leader!
