Tech Star: Kristyn Smith, AES

Mrs. Smith's Kindergartners love working on their iPads
Mrs. Smith has always used a lot of technology in the classroom so effortlessly that we thought she had been a BISD Tech Star long ago - but she has not been recognized until now, and we apologize for that. She has always been on the technology forefront, working hard to acquire iPod Touches for her students a few years ago as well as iPads because she understands how intuitive these devices are for her Kindergartners. She has served on the Alton iPad Committee since it was formed. After attending WOW! Academy 2013, she earned more iPads for her classroom so she is able to use them for small group work as well as in centers. This works well due to good classroom management. She likes to use Class Dojo with her little ones, focusing mainly on positives. Her SMART Board is used every day for the big calendar opening when many basic skills are covered in the morning and her students also use it during center time. She has desktop computers set up with early literacy apps in Chrome. Her little Kindergartners know just what to do, and they enjoy learning with Mrs. Smith! Congratulations, Mrs. Smith, for being a BISD Tech Star!
