Tech Star: Brooke Bennett, BJH

Looking for a way to motivate her Oral Language (speech) class, Ms. Bennett turned to technology.  Students were motivated to succeed once they started to actually listen to themselves speak.  Ms. Bennett used a flip camera to record their first speeches.  Next, students authored and illustrated children's audio books on Web 2.0 site, Little Bird Tales.  The students recorded themselves reading the books.  Ms. Bennett's future plans include using Voki and Podcasts.  The more students hear themselves speaking, the better speakers they become.  What makes Ms. Bennett a tech star is the attention to detail and flexibility that she gives her lesson preparations.  Every student is given the opportunity to succeed with Ms. Bennett. Technology is not something "extra" in Ms. Bennett's classes; it is truly integrated to teach the TEKS.  Thanks Ms. Bennett!
