Have you ever used the kid-safe search engine, KidRex?
KidRex is a Google Custom Search engine and ANYONE can make one! If you want your students to do research, but you only want them to return results from specific {trusted} sites, simply create a custom search engine and give them the URL! They can perform a search just like they would on www.google.com, but they will only be searching your designated sites!
