Teaching Tip Tuesday: What does your posture say about your learning/teaching? #BISDconnect #BISDwired

I was in Mrs. West's design class at BHS a few weeks ago and heard her use the phrase "posture of learning."  As soon as she said it, the kids sat up straight, had their eyes on her and their attention was focused.  I tried this phrase at Alton Elementary and Brenham Elementary a few days later for Read Across America Day and was thrilled to see that it works with all ages!  When the kids hear the word "posture" they immediately sit up straight and take notice!

I was sharing this story with Kim Strauss the following week and she took it one step further ... she used the phrase "posture of teaching."  WOW!  How can we expect our students to have a posture of learning if we're not illustrating a posture of teaching!?

I am curious for your feedback on this post.  What behaviors do you think contribute to a posture of teaching?  How many of those are the same for posture of learning?
