Monday Reflections with High School Educator, Tracy Campbell

Monday Reflections with Educator,
Tracy Campbell

What do you enjoy most right now about your campus?
The camaraderie among faculty, staff, students, and administrators is something that is pretty enjoyable at this time.

Describe a recent lesson that you have enjoyed?
I have enjoyed working on the project where my students make an advertisement reflecting an audience, a persona, as well as, structure and style elements relating to rhetoric.

What technology tools do you like using most in class right now?
I just recently received a flip top Chromebook to use with my students. I think they thought it was pretty awesome. I am still in the learning stages with the Chromebook. Just last week, I created a Nearpod lesson with the help of my technology specialist which kept my students engaged for most of the class.

What is something that your admin does that you appreciate?
Acknowledges when a teacher does a good job.

In the past month, what is a new teaching philosophy, idea, strategy, or pedagogy you have tried to adapt in your classroom?

philosophy - The class of 2019 is a different generation. They learn differently & are not quite as computer savvy as everyone thinks. Phones, yes. Extensions or programs used through Chrome, not so much. Therefore, I had to remind myself to work through some things with this group that in the past were nearly innate in some students. A shift in my philosophy has been, work toward the students' strengths.

What are you looking forward to most this school year?
Cooler weather, stronger curriculum, and working with the teachers in the BHS English Dept.

Suggestion for new educators:
Reinvent yourself often. Stay relevant. Know that teaching is hard, so be prepared for that.
