Tech Tip Thursday: Behavior / Incentive Tracker Templates in Google Slides

Behavior / Incentive Tracker Templates in
Google Slides

A couple of months ago I received an email request from one of our district Instructional Specialist.  She was helping one of her campus teachers with behavior issues within the class.  The teacher was looking for an app that could track and work towards an "end goal" for a specific student.  At the time, we knew what we wanted to try and create... but, we didn't have a name for what to call them.

The first one I created, for this teacher, was our Football themed "behavior thing".  She set this up for one individual student on a Chromebook, and would move the football player one step closer to the goal as the student completed daily tasks, like; staying in their seat, finishing work, showing respect, helping other students, etc.  It worked perfectly.  Other students, noticing this awesome template, decided they would like to participate too.  What led to one student's accommodation, ended up being a classroom behavior/incentive tracker.

They aren't fancy, they don't actually track/log individual behavior like Class Dojo or any other behavior tools like that... These templates are meant to be visual goal reminders for individual students and/or classes to use at the front of the classroom or on a teachers device.

HOW to USE:
  • Click on any of the templates below and automatically save to your Google Drive.
  • Open up the template.  (edit or change if needed)
  • Go to "Present Mode" while on the first slide ( 0/_ )
  • Use your mouse or your arrow keys to build, jump, move, or progress each tracker template.  (It's also okay if you need to move your progress indicator back a space during use.)

Useful When:
  • Complete as a class when working towards a common goal (great behavior during the day, completing tasks, working on collaborative projects respectfully, etc.
  • Individualized reminder for a particular student.  Have on a Chromebook near by, or on your teacher device.  Have student work towards the progression on the behavior/incentive tracker.
  • Work, as a class, towards a joint goal (one move for every 10 books read, or something like this.)

So, now that we had a name for it: "A Classroom Behavior/Incentive Tracker", I decided to create more for the classrooms to use.  I created a baseball themed tracker during baseball season, a snowman builder tracker for the holidays, and even a "Baby Yoda" themed tracker for the current season release of Disney's, "The Mandalorian."  Each Template has different amounts of moves (progression).  Some have 4, 5, or 6 moves, others have more.  Stay tuned to my Twitter account (@tommyspall), as I will add more templates to this blog post over the next couple of months.
