Best Tips Going Into 2021 For Teachers From Teachers

2020 was an interesting year to say the least, but one thing is certain- we used technology more than we ever have this past year, and I believe we learned a lot of what to do and what to not do.

I talked to a few teachers, and here are their tips-

Mrs. Stolz-

  • schedule posts at the beginning of the week for the whole week

Mrs. Coston-

  • use view history (in Google apps) to help with documentation
  • windows + shift + s to copy an area and paste it
  • create a new Google Classroom for the semester

Mrs. Ruiz-

  • Nearpod/screencast-o-matic for flipped classrooms and remote learning instruction
  • ZipGrade for easy scantron grading (and to provide feedback with most missed question/topic, etc)
  • Topics as units for Google classroom
  • Google Jamboard for quick feedback and easy class collaboration
  • Using EQ as my daily exit ticket via Google Form for quick participation and check in
  • Logitech Plug in mouse with new laptop (seriously life saver!!)
  • The shortcut for taking a screenshot on the chrome books- game changer

Mrs. Patranella-

  • folder with daily tabs you use (you can click it and it opens all tabs every morning)- a major time saver!
  • following teachers on TikTok for tricks
  • being active on Facebook groups
This helped me navigate through one of the hardest semesters of my almost decade of teaching.

Mr. Kenjura-

  • topics in Google Classroom
  • having order to your Google Classroom so your students are able to go from remote to in person without feeling lost and helps a teacher not feel overwhelmed

Mrs. Cloud-

  • ctrl + shift + t
  • Remind
  • Google Doc for parents to fill in their emails to have reliable parent contacts for each period
  • multiple screens for 2021 due to the higher demand of virtual learning

Mr. Barber-

  • The Adobe Scan app helps me scan in every piece of paper

Mr. Boggan-

  • Topics in Google Classroom
  • Padlet
  • Windows + p key shortcut

Mrs. Featherston-

  • Using daily topics
  • Creating a new Google Classroom for each semester

Thank you! If you think of more, let me know, and I will add them to our list.
