 Wow Wednesday: Google Updates Coming!

Thank you to John R. Sowash for these awesome graphics to let us, educators, know what is on the horizon for Google for Education.

Brenham ISD friends, we are not a G-Suite Enterprise License, but we are G-Suite for Education License. This means that if it has the $ sign by it, then we will not get that feature.

What I am most excited for teachers about-

In Google Classroom, you will be able to BOLD and italicize text (something we have been asking about). Also, I think the offline support will be game changer for our students in the rural part of the county that do not have access to internet. As well as, the engagement piece will be nice to be able to show parents if their child is engaged or not engaged in activities.

In Google Meets, I think the mute all and mic lock will be game changer when talking to a lot of students in the Google Meet. I also look forward to being able to restrict who comes into a Meet based on the Google Classroom roster.

In Google Drive, I am most excited about the students being able to save their Google Form as a draft. So many times, the form is not completed, but you cannot save your answers before the bell rings. This will be a game changer. Also, I am looking forward to a more reliable version history in Jamboard. In December, we had a trick with the keys to see the version history, but then in January and February it was no longer available.

In Chromebooks, I think screen recording without an extension will help teachers and students record videos to share with classmates easily. I also think the live caption and translation will be helpful for a lot of our students.

We are so looking forward to these updates, and we hope to let you know about the updates as soon as we try them out!
