Web Tool Wednesday: Get Immediate Feedback with Socrative

Immediate feedback is a key part of the learning process. When we pick tech tools to use in the classroom, we need to keep in mind the student learning outcomes. What should students know? What should they be able to do? A way to measure student learning outcomes is through formative assessments such as an exit ticket or quiz. A great tool for this is Socrative.

As stated on their website, "Socrative’s mission has always been to connect teachers with students as learning happens, by providing fun and effective tools to gauge student understanding in real-time. This enables teachers to modify their instruction to drive student learning most effectively".

The best part? Socrative has a free option! With the free plan, you get:

  • 50 students per room
  • 1 public room for your class
  • Create up to 5 quizzes
  • Launch 1 activity at a time

Select from one of the 5 options to launch an activity. Let's pretend you want to do a quiz with your students. You would go to the quizzes tab on the blue bar. Next click add quiz, decide if you want multiple choice, true false, or short answer. Then, type your information for your quiz. Finally, press save.

The video below is a great tutorial on the five different style sessions you could use in your classroom tomorrow.
