This week, during our monthly technology "Geek Week" professional development sessions, we are showing teachers great ways to incorporate the game, Wordle, into their classroom instruction. Wordle is a great way to bring in vocabulary practice/review, word family recognition, vowel/consonant practice, etc.
Wikipedia description: "Wordle is a web-based word game created by Josh Wardle. Players have six attempts to guess a five-letter word, with feedback given for each guess in the form of colored tiles indicating when letters match or occupy the correct position."
Here are some notes from one of our Geek Week slides explaining Wordle:
- Global (geography version of Wordle)
- Nerdle (math version of Wordle)
- Dordle (elar)
- Quordle (elar)
- Worldle (geography version of Wordle)
- Wordle Unlimited (Updated Link) (elar) Play Wordle over and over with this awesome variation of the original game. Have multiple classroom periods throughout the day? Skip the original and hop into this version to play unlimited times throughout the day.
🔊 Spello is like Wordle, except it’s for teachers to create spelling lists. Students follow the teacher's link and click “Play Word” to hear the word. After each spelling try the tiles change to show how close the guess is to the actual spelling. https://t.co/azhpVMySEO pic.twitter.com/cxIDD1tNo3
