Web Tool Wednesday: Coolors and Google Calendar

One way I like to stay organized is through color. I like pretty and matching colors. This is where Coolors comes in. Coolors is a color palette generator. All you have to do is press start to go! If you do not like the colors that were randomly selected, press the space bar to get a new set.

If you noticed on the palette there were letter and number combinations. These numbers and letters are a code called a hex number. These hex numbers tell any website app/program the exact color to show. These numbers are what we are going to use over on Google Calendar.

In Coolors, by clicking on the hex numbers, a box will appear. This box will have a # and a hex code. You will copy the whole hashtag and hex code. Once it is copied, you are ready for Google Calendar.

On the left-hand side, you will see a list of all your calendars. Move your mouse over the name of your calendar. Next to the calendar name, there are three dots. Click on the three dots. A new box will appear with a palette of colors. Find the plus sign at the bottom of the new tab and click on it.

The plus sign will open a new dialog box. This is where you will paste the hex code into the box to change the color of your calendar! Press save and your calendar will change colors.
Go through and change each calendar you would like to update. I personally changed all the colors. You will notice that some events will stay red or green, that is because when an event has been created, the creator of the event can edit the color so it shows up as a different color to stand out on your calendar. Sports are the ones that I noticed in our calendar as showing up as green or red.
