Wow Tools! Using Wizer To Practice STAAR 2.0 Style Questions

If you've been looking for websites or apps where students can practice using the STAAR 2.0 assessment style questions or practicing speaking and writing for TELPAS, let me introduce you to Wizer. Wizer is a web tool that creates digital interactive worksheets. Some of the activities you can include on a worksheet in Wizer are, multiple-choice, open question, matching, and draw. Students can also record their answers using their voice. To learn more about what Wizer can do click here

I recently discovered a great post that integrated previous STAAR tests and Wizer. The first step you will need to do is to go to the STAAR website and grab a relevant released STAAR test. You can do that by clicking here. You can find 2013-2021 released STAAR tests, item rationales, and the answer key.

Once you have the test you want to use downloaded, you'll navigate back over to Wizer. (Note: If you do not want to use a sample STAAR test, you could use ANY PDF file you have (including worksheets you downloaded from TPT).

On the dashboard screen, you are going to select "Create Worksheet".

Next, you're going to scroll down and click on "Import worksheet". The activities is where you can find some STAAR 2.0 type questions such as matching, blanks, and open question. There is also a tab devoted to 2.0 assessments with a great video. You can see that here.
Then, you will click "select file" from your computer. You could also drag and drop if you see your file in the download bar at the bottom of your screen. Find your file and click open.

The file will take a moment to load while Wizer pulls apart all the pages. This is where the good part is! In this step, you can manually select which question you want to use. So maybe for your Biology unit review you only want to focus on questions that relate to that unit. Scroll through the questions until you find which ones you want. This step works the same no matter what PDF you choose to use. Watch the video below to see more:

Wizer is extremely user-friendly! I created this sample worksheet in about five minutes. You can read more here, just scroll down till you see "Surprise! STAAR And Wizer Play Together!"

Bonus idea: You can also bring in Guided Notes from Edgenuity using Wizer! Just follow the same steps when importing your worksheet. To download Edgenuity guided notes go to, Courses, Manage Courses, search/click on the course you want, checkmark the course, scroll to the top and click More, then click View Course Structure. Guided notes have a paper and pencil icon next to them. To view an example Wizer and Guided Notes app smash click here.
