Learning With Podcasts

Something I have found truly helpful in learning about new technology or fun ideas I could use in my classroom was listening to podcasts. I started listening to podcasts back in 2016 when I had a 30-minute drive to work. Now that I have a 45-minute drive to work, I still like to listen to podcasts, and sometimes can manage two before I get to work. There are so many podcasts out there, some that are no longer updated, and some that have been going on for nearly a decade, that you are sure to find one you love. Below are my top 3 suggestions. So if you find ourself wanting some professional development over the summer or when you return back to school, be sure to check out podcasts: your anytime PD.

First up is the House of Ed Tech. Chris Nesi is the podcast host and is a high school and collegiate-level teacher. He talks about integrating different tech tools in the classroom and often interviews teachers and specialists on how they integrate tech at their schools. His podcast has about 200 episodes at the time of this writing so there is plenty to check out. https://www.chrisnesi.com

The next podcast I want to introduce you to is Cult of Pedagogy. Jennifer Gonzalez is the host of the podcast. Jennifer started out teaching middle school, but after some maternity leave, she was hired to teach preservice teachers at the university level. The podcast has about 190 episodes as of the time of this writing. Jennifer discusses strategies in the classroom and current research on her podcast. She also publishes a blog with every episode. https://www.cultofpedagogy.com/

The final podcast I have for you is actually one that recently came to an end. No worries though because there is still great content there. Jake Miller is a Tech Integration Specialist and is still active on Twitter. He shares a lot of great ideas for you to use in the classroom. Although there are only about 4 seasons of his show, it is all great content. https://jakemiller.net/eduducttape/
