Program Not Working in Chrome? Troubleshooting Tips!

Program Not Working in Chrome? Troubleshooting Tips!

This weekend, we were around a lot of people and had no service on our phone. We were trying to get into a sporting event with a ticket app. The app was not pulling up. We started to panic, and in the moment, I forgot all my troubleshooting techniques.

Luckily, it came back to me after some initial panicking. First, I closed the app and opened the app back up. That did not work, so we restarted the phone. After the restart, it had more service (most likely connecting to another tower- like we turn off wifi and back on to connect to another access point at school). We opened the app up with no problem, and then we could enter the stadium.

I thought about how often this happens in the education world- a program or technology item does not work.

Lessons learned-
*Restarting helps (with bugs, updates, and connecting to wifi)
*Make sure software (computer or browser) is up to date
*Turning off and on the wifi helps find another access point
*Try different browsers to see if another browser works better or supports the application
*Check your settings to allow certain items to pop up
*Clearing cookies and cache works

With everything going on, it is easy to forget how to clear cookies and cache. It never hurts to be reminded of the steps-

Clearing Cookies and Cache

(Troubleshooting for Chrome)

  1. In the Chrome browser, click the three dots by your profile picture. Click “more tools” and click the “clear browsing data” option.

  1. In the pop up box, make sure you have changed it to “all time” in the time range option. Then click “cookies and other site data” and “cached images and files” options. This will clear your cookies and cache. It is always a good idea to clear out browsing history and downloaded history every once in a while too (optional). Lastly, click the “clear data” button at the bottom of the window.
