Gmail displays brief email previews with the beginning of each message showing in the message list. Message Sneak Peek is a Gmail Lab that allows you take a bigger "sneak peek" at messages without actually opening them.
After you enable Google Mail's Message Sneak Peek Lab, you'll be able to right-click messages (Control-click for Macs) to view the message contents - without opening them.
To enable Message Sneak Peek, click on the gear in the upper right of the Google Mail window, select Mail Settings, and click on the Labs link. Search for "sneak peek" in the Labs search field to show the Message Sneak Peek Lab. Click the Enable radio button. Click the Save Changes button. Message Sneak Peek will be enabled and you'll be returned to Google Mail.
After you enable Google Mail's Message Sneak Peek Lab, you'll be able to right-click messages (Control-click for Macs) to view the message contents - without opening them.
Note: If you take a sneak peek at an unread message, it remains unread!
