ParentSquare Tip of the Week: Add Text to your Post

ParentSquare Tip: Every Great Image Needs Great Context

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but in ParentSquare, those words still matter!

When creating a post, avoid publishing only an image. Instead, include a brief message that explains what parents and community members are seeing, even if the text simply repeats the information already included on the graphic.

Why is this important?

Accessibility (ADA)
Not every family can easily read text embedded within an image. Screen readers cannot interpret the words on a graphic the same way they can read typed text. Including your message in the body of your ParentSquare post helps ensure everyone has access to the information you're sharing.

Clear Communication
Images can appear blurry or difficult to read depending on the device, email client, or internet connection. By including the details in your post, families won't miss important information if the image doesn't display perfectly.

Using AI? Double Check Before You Post
Our district provides access to enterprise AI tools like Google Gemini and Google NotebookLM, and they can be wonderful resources for brainstorming or creating graphics. However, AI-generated images are not perfect.

Before publishing, always take a moment to:

  • Check spelling and grammar.
  • Verify dates, times, and locations.
  • Make sure logos and branding are correct.
  • Ensure all text is clear, readable, and not distorted or blurry.

A simple rule of thumb:

✔️ Great Post = Clear Image + Written Message

Providing both makes your communication more accessible, easier to understand, and more helpful for every family.

Thank you for helping us create clear, consistent, and inclusive communication for all.
